BNA Staffordshire

Andy Taylor (FBNA and the BNA’s Hon. Archivist) and Steph Holt (FBNA) have launched a new group for the Staffordshire region and would like to invite any local members to get in touch and help develop this new group.

Our first event was to Dimmingsdale Nature Reserve, just outside Alton for the BSBI New Year Plant Hunt. Sadly, no flowering plants to report, but there were many mosses and liverworts, and unusually, a large amount of hair ice, demonstrating just how chilly a walk it was.

Our first public event will be a stand at the Staffordshire Invertebrate Fair on the 7th March (10:30-4pm at the Ormiston Meridian Academy, Sandon Road, Meir, ST3 7DF), it would be lovely to see other BNA members there.

Other monthly events are being planned, including a field trip to Cotton Dell and a history visit to Lichfield and the home of Erasmus Darwin, alongside collection days with the Andrew Taylor Collection (see his article in Country-Side magazine Vol. 36 no. 5 Winter 2024 on this link >>Country-Side-Winter-2024
